Although FlameWorks is a relatively new (established 2004)
company, our heritage goes back more than two decades.
Bruce Bradford, the founder, started his career in the hearth
industry in the mid 1980’s at a large hearth retailer in central
Maryland. He sold, installed and serviced stoves and fireplaces for
nearly 10 years. As manager, he was responsible for all aspects of
the retail hearth experience and enjoyed the direct interaction with
customers, both in the showroom and in the field.
In 1994 Mr. Bradford shifted his focus to provide loss control
expertise in the area of hearth appliances to the insurance
industry. Inspections of stoves and fireplaces of all fuel types
were performed for numerous insurance carriers in 5 states (PA, MD,
DE, VA, WV) and the District of Columbia. A strong focused effort
was made to make the use of hearth appliances more accepted by
insurance carriers by increasing the level of information available
and educating the public about their safe installation, operation
and maintenance.
Seeking to travel less and spend more time with his family, Bruce
went on to serve builder customers with the nations largest hearth
company. Calling on approximately 120 builder customers, special
marketing programs were developed to aid builders in simplifying the
sales process for hearth products. Bruce achieved sales of nearly 3
million dollars annually with an unprecedented customer retention
ratio.
Now with the creation of FlameWorks, the goal is to provide the most
personalized service possible, with a unique approach to the hearth
